Dental Check-Up
Dental Check-up in Crayford? We're here to help you.
If you want to keep a healthy smile, regular dental check-ups are very important. We can review your oral health and determine whether any treatment is required.
Even if you don’t consider anything’s amiss with your teeth right now, getting into the routine of seeing a dentist can confirm it for you. And if you are healthy, give you the best chance of staying this way.
Of course if a dentist does discover a problem, it means it can be dealt with quickly. It’s always preferable to nip dental issues in the bud through dental check-ups, rather than having to treat more complex problems later on.
What is a Dental Check-up?
A dental check-up appoint involves an examination of your gums, teeth and mouth to assess oral hygiene. If there’s an issue, it provides the opportunity to identify it.
While regular dental check-ups are important, your dentist can advise you on how often you should be seen. Some people won’t need a dental check-up as often as others.
What's involved with a Dental Check-up
During your Dental Check-up, your dentist will:
- They’ll ask you about your oral health since your last check-up. Have you experienced any discomfort or other issues?
- They’ll take a look at your teeth, gums, cheeks, tongue and whole mouth.
- They’ll advise you on any actions you can take to improve your oral health. This may include what you eat and how you brush, for instance.
Sometimes a dentist may take an x-ray. This will show hidden problems in your mouth like bone loss caused by gum disease. It’s not nice to think about but you’ll be reassured to know that your dentist also looks for any indication of mouth cancers or other diseases during the check-up.
Plaque build-ups will be spotted too. These may be dealt with directly during the dental check-up, or a separate appointment with a dental hygienist may be arranged. Sometimes, hygienist treatments are booked at the same time as dental check-ups.
