Course Overview

We at Tevina Medical Professionals specialize in running the Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing. The course is run over 12 to 18-month period where the learner will go through a learning programme that will involve attendance to our Centre for seminars and course work. At the end of the course learners will equipped to qualify as a Dental and register with the GDC.

The Dental Nursing course gives the learners’ the knowledge and skills in both chairside and providing the support with a range of treatments. Support will be offered with acquiring placement at the practice, so learners are able to gain the practical element of the course.  You will be required to complete a minimum of 16 hours practical placement in the work place. All learners’ will be required to complete a timesheet which indicate the number of contact hours completed in the work place.

Assessment will also take place in the work place and will include a completion of portfolio of evidence to meet the competence units in the qualification. There are also four Knowledge units which are assessed via an online assessment.

All these additional skills can be acquired once competence has been achieved in the field.      

The dental nurse will work along side the dentist to provide care to the patient. The duties will range from simple chairside duties such assisting with check ups to more advanced complex treatments at the practice.

As competent dental nurse you will expected to be able to anticipate and plan treatments in advance in order to facilitate the smooth running of the day.  The important part of a dental nurse’s role is to make sure that patients feel comfortable. A dental nurse will also be expected to give instructions to patients following treatments to help them improve their oral health.
